My suspicion is that 7 small gold screws coming through the top of the box and in to the microwave need to come out. But since the top of the screw is between the microwave and the cabinet, I cannot loosen them. There are also other screws I can see inside the vent, but no screwdriver can fit in there to get them out. What am I doing wrong? Please help me!!!:. I am having the same problem with removal.
I am thinking that it will be necessary to remove the top cabinet as it seems the microwave bracket may have tabs that the unit slips onto when the top cabinet is absent. Is this correct? Since your message is from May of this year I figure that you have done this by now. I have a nice new microwave here that will be returned to Lowes if I can't get it done. The Kenmore is 20 years old but still works well. I wanted to install a matching microwave for the new range.
I thought that after removal of the two front bolts the unit would pivot down and then allow it to be lifted off of the rear bottom bracket shelf. No such luck. Thanks for any assistance. I'm sorry nobody answered your original request.
OK, I figured it out! There are two large phillips screw/bolts on the bottom rear left and right side along the wall bracket.
Completely loosen them and pull down on them to release the slide / shafts that engage the wall bracket all the way through the unit to the top. You can see the tops of these shafts through the vent panel above the microwave door. Look to the rear on both sides. CAUTION - DO NOT unscrew the bolts from the top cabinet unless someone is holding the unit from below.
